Full Attic Restoration
Droppings along the joists, a musty smell drifting into the upstairs hallway, and insulation flattened into a gray mat usually mean your attic needs more than a patch. Attic restoration clears out everything that has gone bad up there and rebuilds the space so it does its job again, which is why partial fixes tend to bring the same problems back.
At Attic Construction, we handle the whole project, from removing contaminated insulation to blowing in new Owens Corning fiberglass. If you’ve been searching for attic restoration near me, here’s what the work involves and how to tell whether your home is ready for it.

Jonathan and his crew cleaned my attic and crawl space, sealed all of the entry points to keep the rodents out and installed new insulation. They arrived on time and despite sweltering heat they completed the job in a timely and professional manner. Additionally, they answered all of my many questions. I would strongly recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

They sent over Brian for a free inspection. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to show the drain leak issue we have. Unfortunately, it’s not in their scope of service. But he helped us find and speak to plumbing company. Thank you Brian!Posted on Google![]()

Our house is going on 30 years old and we knew from other subs and trades that the attic insulation was uneven across the house and inadequate in places. We had all of the old insulation removed, the space cleaned up, openings sealed, baffles installed, and new R-49 fiberglass insulation blown in. Angel and his crew were prompt, very polite and respectful of our house, and worked diligently to complete the job in a timely manner. They kept the areas of their work neat and clean and left no mess behind. The space looks great, and we are looking forward to realizing the benefits of the new insulation right away.Posted on Google![]()

What Full Attic Restoration Includes
Your inspection shows how much work your attic needs, but a full restoration moves through four stages in a set order.
Insulation Removal
Our insulation removal crews use industrial vacuums to pull out insulation that’s soiled by rodents, damp, or simply worn out, along with the droppings and nesting material mixed into it.
Cleaning and Decontamination
Once the attic floor is bare, we clean the surfaces and treat them with hospital-grade disinfectant to neutralize bacteria, viruses, and the pheromones that draw rodents back. Most quick-fix jobs skip this part of attic cleaning and restoration, which is why we handle attic decontamination as part of the project.
Rodent Proofing and Air Sealing
Before anything new goes in, we seal the openings rodents used to get inside, from roof vents to foundation cracks. Rodent proofing keeps pests out, and air sealing closes the gaps where heated and cooled air leaks between your living space and the attic.
New Fiberglass Insulation
Fresh Owens Corning fiberglass goes in last. It’s the only insulation we install, and as an Owens Corning Certified Energy Expert installer, we back it with a lifetime warranty. Homes that take the full force of the summer sun sometimes add a radiant barrier to reflect roof heat away from the new insulation.
Signs Your Attic Needs Restoration
Some attic problems announce themselves, and others show up first as a stale smell or a higher energy bill.
- Droppings or nesting material: Small dark pellets along the joists or chewed, hollowed-out insulation mean rodents have settled in.
- Lingering odors: A musty or ammonia-like smell in upstairs rooms often traces back to urine-soaked insulation.
- Flat, stained, or matted insulation: Compacted or discolored insulation no longer slows heat the way it once did.
- Uncomfortable rooms: Hot bedrooms and an air conditioner that runs nonstop often start with thin insulation and a leaky attic floor.
- Original insulation in an older home: Many older homes in Orange County, Dallas, and the Phoenix area still have insulation that has settled over the decades.
The CDC’s guidance on cleaning up after rodents warns against sweeping or vacuuming droppings, since it can send contaminated dust into the air, so we don’t recommend tackling this one yourself. If several of these sound familiar, a full restoration usually beats fixing them one at a time.
How Our Attic Restoration Process Works
We begin with a free inspection, where a specialist photographs your attic and builds your Attic Thermal and Contamination Report. It lays out insulation gaps, air leaks, and any contamination in plain English, along with GOOD, BETTER, and BEST options and pricing, so you can pick a scope that fits your budget.
Most restorations wrap up in one to two days, depending on the size of your home and how much has to come out. We protect your floors and belongings, and in most cases you can stay home while we work.
Why Choose Attic Construction for Professional Attic Restoration
With more than 15,500 attics restored and a 4.8 average rating from over 2,000 homeowners, we’ve seen most of what can go wrong above a ceiling, and we’ll tell you plainly whether you need a full restoration or something smaller.
We’re licensed, bonded, and insured, and our services carry a one-year warranty. Financing is available for qualified homeowners, and the inspection gives you a clear picture of your attic without committing to anything.

If you’re finding droppings, smelling something off, or watching your energy bills climb, the first step is a look at what’s up there. Book your free attic inspection and we’ll walk you through the report, the options, and the timeline before you decide anything.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
If rodents, moisture, or age have ruined your insulation, yes. New insulation laid over contamination traps the odors and droppings underneath, while restoration removes the source and gets your energy bills and air quality back in line.
Cost depends on your attic’s size, how much insulation has to come out, how far contamination has spread, and how many entry points need sealing. Your free report lays out GOOD, BETTER, and BEST options with pricing, and financing is available for qualified homeowners.
It depends on your policy and what caused the damage, and many standard policies exclude rodent damage. Ask your insurer before work begins, and we’ll share the photos from your inspection to support a claim.
Mice and rats are most active at night, but that doesn’t mean they’ve gone anywhere. Their nests stay in the insulation, so scratching at night and droppings by day both point to an active problem.
